This not only leads to disappointment, but resentment toward all other people who come into your life. If we accept from the beginning that perfect does not exist, then we are able to move on to find the happiness that we are seeking. Ellen Goodman wrote an essay years ago called "Being Loved Anyway" about relationships that is a jewel. Another tip is to get involved with groups and organizations that share your values and interests.
